Since the outbreak of corona virus, people worldwide were alarmed and there has been a scarcity in the supply of face masks. Because of this, many had been creative in creating their own masks and some were even practicing reusing of their disposable N95 masks. Even those who work in the hospitals are reusing their N95 masks. Although this is not a good practice, most of them have no choice due to lack of supply.

It may not be advisable to reuse disposable N95 masks, however with proper care and sanitation, it can prolong the use of disposable N95 masks. One way to extend the life of a disposable mask is by not touching the insides of the mask. If it is really necessary to touch the inside, make sure to touch it with clean hands or with clean gloves.

Another way is by using filters. By putting filters and regularly replacing them, the mask can still work properly. Sanitizing it before and after every use is also advisable. There are different disinfectant agents that can be used to kill germs, bacteria and viruses. With proper cleaning and sanitizing, disposable N95 masks can still be reused. However, keep in mind that before reusing disposable N95 masks, make sure that they still fit snugly on the face. If it doesn’t, do not attempt to wear it again.
