How to wash faux fur rug?

There is a pre-treatment needed in washing a faux fur rug. Best to treat it with a stain solution prior to hand washing it. Pre-soak the rug about 30 minutes in cool water mixed with ¼ cup of scented vinegar.

Hand-washing is always the best and safest method for washing faux fur rug. Simply add 2 capfuls of any gentle detergent or a wool shampoo to a washbasin or your sink filled with cool water. Wash it gently without any twisting at all. Soak it for another 30 minutes.

You can also soak your rug in the bathtub with cold water and a bit of detergent and gently wash it. You can also just let the dirt separate from the rug itself before hand-washing it.

Rinse well by running cool water through the rug until the water is clear and not soapy anymore. Don’t twist the rug to rinse the excess water off.  Just press the water out of the rug instead.
